CCTV Installation

IP CCTV designed for usable evidence and lawful operation — not just cameras on a wall.

Designed around what you need to see

Most disappointing CCTV fails for the same reason: cameras were positioned to cover area rather than to answer a question. We start from the purpose — is this camera for detection (something is happening), recognition (that's a person I know) or identification (evidence that stands up)? Each demands a different pixel density on target, and therefore a different lens, resolution and mounting position.

What we install

  • IP camera systems with proper network design, not cameras bolted onto a domestic router
  • Cameras suited to the task: fixed, varifocal, dome, bullet and PTZ
  • Low-light and infrared performance where scenes are dark, and WDR where you are shooting into bright light
  • Recording with retention sized to your policy, with RAID or redundancy where loss is unacceptable
  • Secure remote viewing on mobile, with per-user access rather than one shared password
  • Integration with intruder alarms and access control for verified events

The legal side

CCTV that captures identifiable people is processing personal data, which brings duties under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. In practice that means:

  • A clear, documented purpose for the system — and cameras that serve it
  • Signage telling people recording is taking place and who operates it
  • A defined retention period, with footage deleted after it
  • A process for handling subject access requests and police disclosure
  • Care over microphones, and over cameras that overlook neighbouring property or public space

We design with these in mind and tell you plainly where a proposed camera position would create a problem.

Cyber security

Internet-connected cameras are a common weak point. We change default credentials, segregate camera traffic from your main network, keep firmware current, and avoid unnecessary port forwarding.
